On Monday, December 06, 2010, the Round Lake Beach Police Department hosted sixty-seven children and their families at the Cultural and Civic Center for our second annual Shop With a Cop program.  Children and their families were treated to food, crafts, games and music as they awaited their turn to accompany a police officer to Walmart for a hundred dollar shopping spree. 

We would like to thank our community partners Starbucks and Walmart for their contributions to this event. Thanks also go to members of the Round Lake Beach, Round Lake, Round Lake Park District, and Round Lake Heights Police Departments along with the Lake County Sheriffs office, Round Lake Area Mobile Eye and Sherry Ridge and friends, all of whom donated their time to make this event a success.     

Finally this event would not be possible if not for the generous donations of area businesses and residents. The community donated over $6,800.00 and helped brighten the holidays for all involved. It is the giving rather than the receiving that makes this season special and it was proven again during this event. Thank you one and all.
